Exploring the Geography, History, and Culture Behind Jesus’ Revelation

Los Angeles is very different from Hesperia. Apple Valley and Irvine can feel worlds apart. Victorville and Ventura don’t have a lot in common. They’re all cities, but each has its own identity, culture, and story. Two thousand years ago, Jesus gave His Revelation to seven churches in seven very different cities. Each message was spoken into a particular place, shaped by its geography, history, culture, and pressures of everyday life.

In this class, we’ll step back into that first-century world and discover what made each of these cities—and their churches—distinct. We’ll journey from city to city, exploring the places, people, and culture behind Jesus’ words. Along the way, we’ll discover how understanding their world can deepen our understanding of Revelation—and help us see our own world through fresh eyes.
