Our core purpose- The purpose of each of HDC’s generational communities is to prepare every generation to change their worlds for Christ. Throughout
biblical history, from generation to generation, God has utilized the
oikos, or "extended family,” as His initial target for evangelism. He
primarily perpetuates His Kingdom through those close relational
connections that we all have with eight to fifteen different people.
While different generations reflect different cultural characteristics,
that oikos is a constant. It is one of life’s great equalizers.
Our
core values- HDC works out that purpose of world change within the
context of our core values. These values frame the ministry and are
listed in order of descending priority. We seek to be:
1) Truthful -We
believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative
Word of God. It is not simply another tool that one can draw on from
life's smorgasbord of self-improvement resources. We believe it is
absolutely true. That is, it is true all the time, for everyone in
every generation.
2) Helpful -We
believe that God's people should leave a church experience feeling
confident that the principles they heard or the encouragement they
received will make them more effective world changers.
3) Durable -We
believe that a local church should be structured in such a way as to
provide for effective ministry through multiple generation cycles,
depending less on the personality of a single leader and more on the
team model of leadership.
4) Enjoyable -We
believe that there is no good reason for church to be boring. To
suggest that you can only enjoy a church if it "waters down the Word of
God" is, at best, short sighted and, more often than not, slanderous.
Spiritual enrichment and personal enjoyment are not mutually exclusive
terms. We believe the Holy Spirit has gifted people in the body of
Christ to present truth and lead worship in highly entertaining ways.
To reject that is not only an offense to the Holy Spirit, but it
compromises the mission of the church.
